And gone are the days of terries soaking in a bucket of Napisan by the back door, or being boiled up on the stove. Modern washable nappies can go straight in the washer at as low as 40, personally I put them on a rinse cycle before that. Stains are bleached out by the sun when you hang them on the line, or if you are bothered you can pre-soak them in vinegar, teatree oil or bicarb. It is easy - really. You need never stir out for a nappy again!

And it can be easier. . .

The thought of washing nappies did put me off with my first child until I found the local nappy laundry service. And so, each week I received a pile of beautiful clean cotton nappies, as I used them I threw them in a lidded bin which once a week was left for the nappy man. The dirty nappies were removed, the bin cleaned and a pile of fresh nappies left for me to find - and all for the cost of a packet of pampers - lovely!
